Seven new members were welcomed into the ranks of the Internet Advertising Association (Sdružení pro internetovou reklamu - SPIR) at the last meeting of the executive board. Joining the Media Section are Aukro.cz, operator of one of the largest auction portals in the country, www.aukro.cz, and Retail Info, which operateswww.akcniceny.cz and www.monitor.cz. Other new Media Section members include Burda Communications, which operates a server for computer gaming fans, www.hrej.cz . This server is designed primarily for readers of the printed titles Level and Next Level, also published by Burda Communications. Another new Media Section member is LIN, which oversees the internet activities of Radio Impuls (www.impuls.cz), the most-listened-to radio station in the country. One interesting new member of SPIR is Microsoft. Jiří Grund, Microsoft’s marketing director, explains why it was interested in becoming a member: “We recognize the importance and potential of the online market in the Czech Republic, and we’re pleased that we have the opportunity to become a member of such an association. Thanks to this group, we’ll have more opportunities to share in its development and contribute to improving the Czech internet situation.”
New movement was detected in the Internet Advertisers Section as well. Entering the ranks was internet agency Sun Marketing. Renáta Změlíková, sales director, looks forward to further improvements in media relations with its membership in SPIR. The final newcomer to SPIR is the internet department of Ogilvy One – OgilvyInteractive. According to its director, Tomáš Jindříšek, joining SPIR is a logical step. “As the internet advertising market becomes more and more professional, there is plenty of room for a generally respected authority to serve as an example and an inspiration for the Czech market. In my opinion, SPIR is the organization which best fulfills these requirements,” commented Tomáš Jindříšek on Ogilvy Interactive’s entrance to SPIR.
SPIR is a professional association operating in the internet advertising sphere since 2000. It consists of two sections representing the two sides of the advertising market – the internet media section and the internet advertisers section. At the current time, the association has 44 members in both sections. In addition to operating the widely respected internet audience research and socio-demographic profiling project NetMonitor, it also provides internet advertising monitoring through its AdMonitoring project.
